ILDG forms a Virtual Organization (VO). Membership can be requested through the ILDG-wide Identity and Access Management (IAM) service hosted at CNAF/INFN. (Note that the IAM replaces the former ILDG User Registration via VOMS, which is disabled since June 2024.)

Each regional grid autonomously operates the following services

• Website
• Metadata Catalogue (MDC)
• File Catalogue (FC)
• Storage Elements (SE)

The file Services.xml keeps record of the URLs of these services and is normally used by client programs.
